New site gives voice to variety of women's interests, attracts advertisers

Real Girls Media Network, a digital network created by women for women, has debuted its first Web site at

Founded by advertising veteran Kate Thorp, the site combines real women's voices with guided editorial and an online community. aims to provide women a platform to reflect, read, write and connect with one another.

Through its proprietary technology, the site enables users to publish their thoughts and stories alongside those of editors and other syndicated content.

User submissions, professional content, reviews and forums are categorized in nine content areas: relationships, parenting, home and food, body and soul, travel, style, career and money, neighborhood and world, and play.

Prior to the site's launch, both Target and Doubletree Hotels signed on as advertisers to the site.

Women who are interested in submitting their stories need to register and create their own "My Studio" personal profile.

After completing their submission, choosing an optional photo and selecting a content area where they would like their story to appear, users can publish their writing on the site. will also use some of the top female bloggers in North America to help build the site for women. They include Amy Allen Clark, Gayla Trail, Ivette Ricco and Jenni Prokopy.

The San Francisco-based site also provides a platform for women's groups and nonprofits to reach a new audience and connect women with the causes they believe in.

Organizations such as Common Sense Media, Moms in Business Network, Spark and The Tug McGraw Foundation have profile pages on the site that describe their mission, resources, fundraising efforts and volunteer opportunities.
