The National Crime Prevention Council and the Chief Marketing Officer Council are looking for extra sponsors as they launch the "Take a Bite Out of Cyber Crime" campaign.

The public awareness effort is meant to warn computer and digital instrument users against viruses, worms, spyware, phishing, identity theft and online predators.

McGruff the Crime Dog will be the mascot.

The campaign includes "Mass Immunization of America's Home Computers," a feature downloadable from the site at www.bytecrime.org; distribution of online and printed educational material; high profile appearances from McGruff; and the training of 20,000 students as Junior CyberGuards.
