Marriott Rooms to Get Entertainment Upgrade

On Command Corp. will be outfitting 165,000 hotel rooms in the Marriott International chain with its multimedia electronic platform.


Terms of the deal were not disclosed.


A Marriott guest will have TV Internet access, interactive music, newly released feature films, Sony PlayStation games, and a wider array of cable and broadcast programming.


"This agreement with Marriott serves as a model for all of On Command's partnerships with its hotel customers," said Jerome H. Kern, chairman/CEO of On Command, Denver.


A specially modified version of the company's OCX platform will be installed in 100,000 Marriott hotel rooms before year's end.


The chain includes Marriott Hotels, Resorts and Suites; Renaissance Hotels and Resorts; Courtyard by Marriott; SpringHill Suites by Marriott; Fairfield Inn by Marriott; Residence Inn by Marriott; and TownePlace Suites by Marriott.
