Yahoo announced on August 24 it has updated its Yahoo Mail and Yahoo Messenger products, and it is testing a new search results page.

The new search results page is designed to be consistent with the Yahoo homepage design. It also features so-called intelligent search results that take prior searches into account when delivering results.

Yahoo is still a distant second to Google in terms of its share of searches, coming in at 19.6% of searches conducted in June 2009, compared with Google's 65%.

New features of Yahoo Mail include a streamlined inbox design, a new Evite app added to its list of third-party applications, enhanced photo sharing capabilities, increased attachment limits, updated mobile capabilities and more social features. Messenger updates include the addition of video calls to the chat product and an improved application for iPhones.
