USPS Names First Privacy Officer

The U.S. Postal Service this week named Zoë Strickland as the agency's first chief privacy officer.


Strickland will reinforce the USPS' focus on consumer privacy issues concerning online applications and initiatives.


Strickland reports to Francia Smith, consumer advocate and vice president of consumer affairs at the USPS. Smith also advises senior management on privacy policies and procedures.


Strickland has 10 years of public policy and legal experience. She has served in the postal service's Office of General Counsel since 1991, practicing in a variety of areas including ethics, Freedom of Information Act, privacy act, employment and government contracts.
