RMH Teleservices to Add 2,000 Workstations

RMH Teleservices will expand its teleservices capacity by 2,000 workstations with the creation of several new call centers.


When complete, the expansion will represent a 36 percent increase in the Bryn Mawr, PA company's teleservices capacity over its September levels. Including the expansion, total workstations operated by RMH Teleservices will number more than 7,500. The expansion will be completed over the next six to nine months.


Exact locations of the new call centers were not disclosed, although the company said most of the expansion would take place in Canada.


The new facilities will enable RMH Teleservices to accommodate increased business from new and existing customers. RMH Teleservices operates 5,500 workstations and employs more than 8,000 people in the United States and Canada.

Armstong Holdings Inc., Lancaster, PA, will create 125 new jobs at a new customer service center in Butler, PA, to serve its Armstrong Utilities cable television subsidiary. The center will hold 65 to 75 seats and will be open seven days a week upon completion. Projected opening dates for the call center were not released. The state of Pennsylvania is assisting with the project by providing grants, job creation tax credits and other funding. An Armstrong official said the creation of the new call center would let the company extend its customer service hours.


BellSouth, Atlanta, opened a new call center for its Small Business Services unit earlier this month in Eastman, GA. The center will employ 75 to 100 people when fully operational. Initially, the center will have 20 positions, and its staff will be expanded over the next year. BellSouth will use the facility in marketing activities aimed at providing telecommunications services to small businesses. Further details were not revealed.


Verizon Wireless, Bedminster, NJ, held a grand opening for its new $24 million facility in Rancho Cordova, CA, earlier this month. The 167,000-square-foot customer service call center will hold 1,200 workstations and bring more than 1,100 new jobs to the area. The center will provide service to Verizon Wireless customers in 12 Western states. Regions served include all of Nevada as well as the northern section of California. The Rancho Cordova facility is Verizon Wireless' third call center in California. The others are in Folsom and Irvine. Hiring for the new call center in Rancho Cordova is under way.
