Reed to acquire BuyerZone.com

In a move intended to accelerate its online growth, business-to-business publisher Reed Business Information said it will acquire online lead generation firm BuyerZone.com Inc.

The deal is expected to close on or about Jan. 1, 2007, after gaining regulatory approvals. The Jordan, Edmiston Group Inc., a New York investment bank, advised represented the buyer in this transaction.

BuyerZone, Watertown, MA, links prospective buyers to qualified suppliers of more than 125 business product and service categories, including office and industrial equipment, telecom, technology, software services, human resources, financial products and retail services.

Since 2004, it has facilitated more than $5 billion worth of transactions.

Reed Business Information will look to BuyerZone's search engine marketing expertise to help it build its marketing and editorial reach across numerous industry sectors.

The New York-based publisher is a division of Reed Elsevier and publishes more than 80 publications and 55 Webzines for industry professionals in the media, manufacturing, electronics, construction and retail.

Reed Business Information's online and offline reach will provide significant growth opportunities for BuyerZone.
