PA: Glitch Hampers DNC Registration

The Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office blames a possible computer glitch for preventing some consumers from signing up for the state's telemarketing no-call registry.

About 2,000 complaints have come into the attorney general's office since the do-not-call list took effect Nov. 1, including many from the 215 area code in the Philadelphia region. The attorney general's office said it was looking into a possible problem with the state's online registration system as the source of some of the failed registrations.

Some complaints stemmed from difficulties unrelated to the online registration system, the attorney general's office said. Some consumers failed to register in time for the Nov. 1 effective date, while others became confused after receiving calls from nonprofit organizations, which are exempt under the DNC law.
