Nortel Unit to Offer Call Center Marketing Products

Nortel Networks Corp., Brampton, Ontario, yesterday launched an e-commerce unit built around electronic business software maker Clarify Inc. and call center software developer Periphonics Corp., which were both recently acquired by Nortel.

The new division is called Clarify e-Business Applications and will sell business-to-business and customer management tools. The company will offer several products of interest to direct marketers, including products that connect wireless phones to customer information data and equipment linking Web sites with call centers.

The new unit, to be headquartered in San Jose, CA, will have a staff of 2,600 worldwide and has customers like General Electric, Charles Schwab and Qwest Communications.
