New Mobile Guidelines Out

What is it? The Interactive Advertising Bureau and the Mobile Marketing Association releases “Mobile Phone Creative Guidelines,” a collaborative effort, at this week's IAB Mobile Marketplace conference.

WIIFM? The updated guidelines will help marketers address a variety of factors in the mobile landscape, such as device types, carrier plans, and data connections.

Who's talking? “These new guidelines provide a framework for the consistent development of mobile ads that produce strong results,” says Anna Bager, VP at IAB.


MediaCom Launches Tech Marketing Unit

What is it? MediaCom Worldwide announces a collaborative relationship with Banner, a sister unit at WPP. The resulting new unit, MediaCom Banner, will focus on media strategy and planning for technology companies.

WIIFM? MediaCom Banner's claim is that the hybrid unit possesses the “deep knowledge and experience” demanded by the space.

Who's talking? “Our combined abilities in the technology space will be unbeatable,“ boasts Banner Managing Director Rupert Denny.


There Must Be Some Kind of Way Out of Advertising on Facebook

What is it? Pandemic Labs introduces Watchtower, which monitors some 26,000 commercial Facebook pages to provide industry benchmarking and trends.

WIIFM? Watchtower allows users to study every post, like, comment, and share a page receives and contrast it to competitors' pages. An analytics feature helps alter one's posting habits to maximize engagement.

Who's talking? “You can increase your page's engagement by as much as 50% without spending a dime on Facebook advertising,” claims Creative Director Matt Peters.


Teradata Aggregates for Interaction

What is it? Teradata introduces Interactive Customer Engagement, an aggregation of several of the company's analytics solutions, to deliver personalized messaging across multiple channels.

WIIFM? According to Teradata, the new platform offers marketers the ability to easily adjust and alter customer analytics to achieve effective personalization.

Who's talking? “This provides a roadmap to the full customer journey,” says Director of Digital Marketing Solutions Wes Moore. “Users can start and stop on different points in the journey and respond to consumers with relevant offers.”


Qnary Perches on a Brand Platform

What is it? Qnary introduces a platform that provides marketers with overviews of their brands' digital footprints.

WIIFM? The tool allows marketers to track how brands perform in social media, search, and content placement across all digital channels.

Who's talking? ““We have a team of social and search optimization specialists with extensive experience improving the social and search presences of brands,” says Mark Pilatowski, platform lead.


Yesmail Tracks Instagram

What is it? Yesmail Interactive releases a new version of its Market Intelligence program that now tracks Instagram along with Facebook and Twitter.

WIIFM? A look at campaigns run by you and your competitors  throughout all digital channels, tracking deployment strategies by frequency, time of day, and day of week.

Who's talking? “The addition of Instagram is a game changer because of its rapid adoption rate," says Jason Warnock, VP, Market Intelligence and Measurement.


Who is it: Yuchun Lee joins General Catalyst Partners as a partner in its Entrepreneur in Residence program.

What's his role: Lee will work closely with the firm's growth equity team to identify and build technology-based companies with a focus on enterprise software and data analytics.

Where was he prior: He was most recently VP and GM of IBM's Enterprise Marketing Management Group. Lee cofounded and served as CEO of Unica, which aided marketers seeking to make better use of technology.

Why was he appointed: “With a career leading technology-based organizations spanning nearly 30 years, he brings invaluable knowledge and perspective to our firm,” says David Fialkow, managing director and cofounder of General Catalyst Partners.


Who is it: Deborah Szajngarten was named VP of Marketing Communications at Celtra, a mobile media ad server.

What's her role: She will create and deliver marketing communications strategies designed to increase Celtra's brand visibility.

Where was she prior: Szajngarten previously directed global communications at Vimeo. She spent 15 years in the consumer electronics industry, leading communications programs for Samsung, Canon, and Sony.

Why was she appointed: “Her demonstrated leadership and strategic approach will help drive awareness for Celtra's role in rich media mobile advertising," says CEO Mihael Mikek.
