Kodak CMO Hayzlett to step down

Jeffrey Hayzlett, CMO of Eastman Kodak, will step down from his post effective May 28 to pursue “personal projects.” He held the top marketing position at Kodak for the last 16 months.

Hayzlett will continue to work with Kodak as a consultant through the end of August.

“[Hayzlett] and members of our senior management team have been in discussions over the past few weeks in order to ensure that this transition is seamless,” said David Lanzillo, director and VP of corporate communications for Kodak. “We have a strong team of marketing professionals who will ensure that our day-to-day marketing operations continue to run smoothly.”

Hayzlett could not be immediately reached for comment.

The 49-year-old Hayzlett joined Kodak in April 2006 as CMO and vice president of the company's graphic communications group. He became the chief business development officer in September 2007 and was elected corporate VP by the board of directors a year later. In January 2009, Hayzlett was named the company's CMO.

Asked if there will be a national search to replace Hayzlett, Lanzillo said, “We have no specifics to share today.” He suggested that the company might seek to restructure the department following Hayzlett's departure.

“We are looking to reposition the CMO role and the structure of the marketing organization to best meet the needs of the new company we've become,” Lanzillo said.

Following the announcement of his resignation, Hayzlett tweeted: “Personal projects coming up fast books, TV, and speeches--oh my!. Stay tuned. More to come after May 28.”
