Inserts up for fourth quarter 2008

The active package insert program (PIP) universe was 412.6 million in the fourth quarter of 2008, up 63 million from the same period in 2007, according to a report released by ParadyszMatera.

However, the average change in universe size for individual PIPs was -1.8% between Q4 2008 and Q4 2007. Amazon's PIP had the largest individual universe at 102 million.

The average rate base cost per thousand for package insert programs was $61.29 for the fourth quarter, up from $61.12 the previous year.

Over the past two years, the package insert program universe gained nearly 89MM overall.
