Infolink Technologies Booted From DMA On Junk-Fax Complaints

MIAMI -- The Direct Marketing Association has expelled a member, Infolink Technologies Ltd., after DMA staff and other members complained of unsolicited commercial fax activities by the company, the association said yesterday.

The expulsion, announced here at the DMA Teleservices Conference 2003 by association president/CEO H. Robert Wientzen, came after the recommendation of the DMA's Teleservices Ethics Committee, the DMA said.

The committee made its recommendation after Infolink ignored several DMA requests to comply with the association's ethics guidelines prohibiting unsolicited commercial, or "junk," faxes, according to the DMA.

Federal law also prohibits junk faxes under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. The DMA said it has referred the case to the Federal Communications Commission.

A representative of Infolink, Toronto, said its attorneys were reviewing the case and that it would not respond further at this time. The company describes itself on its Web site,, as "one of Canada's premier news and information disseminators."
