Hole in No. 1

Once in a great while a unique or bizarre product is created that needs a very unique media to tell its story. And often enough, we learn about these products through the glory of DRTV and infomercials.

As if the hilarious Snuggie wasn’t enough for this year, we now have the Uroclub. The Uroclub is a urine container disguised as a seven iron; you can watch the infomercial here. Long golf rounds often leave golfers stranded out in the middle of nowhere when they hear nature call and they simply don’t know where to get some privacy. Well, now you can look like your golfing while you’re going No. 1.

As Mary Elizabeth Hurn reported in a feature article last month, DRTV ads are likely to start having more of a presence in prime time television as traditional advertisers see budgets shrinking. This was made abundantly clear when Cash4Gold got a commercial on Super bowl Sunday. Soon enough, I may start turning away from entertainment programming and focus instead on the commercials to check out other products that are being sold that provide belly laughs and a grab my attention.
