DoubleClick Names 7 Privacy Board Members

DoubleClick yesterday named seven new members to its Privacy Advisory Board.

The board will meet for the first time June 2 to help DoubleClick develop and revise its privacy policy as well as resolve its Internet security and online ethics issues.

The New York-based company formed the board in March after suffering from complaints by the government and private groups over the ways it used information collected online. The company also is under investigation by the Federal Trade Commission for its practices and is battling a number of related lawsuits.

The new members of the board are Lori Fena, chairman and co-founder of Truste; Daniel J. Weitzner, technology and society domain leader of the World Wide Web Consortium; Elizabeth Lascoutx, director of Children's Advisory Review Unit and vice president of the Council of Better Business Bureaus; Robert Litan, vice president and director of economic studies at The Brookings Institution; David Stazer, vice president of product development and co-founder of; Harriet P. Pearson, director of public affairs at IBM; and Stewart Baker, partner at Steptoe & Johnson.

The new members join previously appointed members Bob Abrams, chairman and a former New York state attorney general, and Jules Polonetsky, chief privacy officer and a former commissioner to New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani.
