DMA Creates, Fills Executive Membership Post

The Direct Marketing Association announced yesterday its appointment of Ramesh Ratan to the newly created position of senior vice president, membership and market development, effective April 25.

Ratan will be responsible for ensuring member satisfaction with existing and new products and services as well as leading all membership retention and recruitment efforts, the DMA said.

Ratan has more than 20 years of marketing experience in the business-to-business and business-to-consumer sectors at firms of varying sizes. Before joining the DMA, Ratan served as president of VocalTec Americas and senior vice president, strategy for VocalTec Communications Ltd., an Internet telephony telecom equipment provider. Previously he served in management, business development and marketing positions for Yellow Pages, Packetup Corp., Lucent Technologies and AT&T.

Ratan holds a Ph.D. in operations research and marketing from the University of Pittsburgh. He holds an MBA from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management at the University of Bombay in India.
