SAN FRANCISCO - Allen W. Dyon has been elected chairman of the Direct Marketing Educational Foundation's board of trustees, succeeding John F. Temple, president/CEO of Guideposts.

A veteran marketer, Mr. Dyon is chief marketing officer of DMRA, a Palo Alto, CA-based database and analytics firm. He previously spent 30 years at the Allstate Motor Club, rising to the president's post.

His election to the DMEF post was a unanimous decision from the board at its meeting here to coincide with the DMA06 annual conference.

Mr. Dyon spent three years on the DMEF board, developing the foundation's programs and activities.

The DMEF is an educational nonprofit supported by tax-deductible contributions from business leaders and direct marketing firms.

Mr. Dyon was chairman of the Direct Marketing Association in 1995 after having served as a board member for 11 years.

Meanwhile, the DMEF also elected Gary Laben, president/CEO of KnowledgeBase Marketing, as vice-chairman and chairman elect. Ben Perez, president of infoUSA Inc.'s Millard Group Inc., was named treasurer. Tim Litle, chairman of Litle & Co., will serve as secretary.

The board of trustees also includes DMA president/CEO John A. Greco Jr., who will continue as vice-chairman; immediate past chairman Mr. Temple; and Jim Kobs, president of Kobs Strategic Consulting, a former chairman.
