DialAmerica Increases Security for Consumer Data

Teleservices agency DialAmerica Marketing Inc. has installed a new network security system to protect consumer data from outside intrusion.

The firm chose security software provider BioconX, Minneapolis, to protect the computers used by DialAmerica to process credit card authorizations.

The system requires users to display unique physical identifiers, such as fingerprints, to log on to protected computers. The technology, known as biometrics, eliminates the need for passwords.

The security system chosen by DialAmerica involves a unit the size of a credit card that scans a user's fingerprints for identification before allowing log-on.

Mahwah, NJ-based DialAmerica employs more than 10,000 telephone sales agents and operates more than 80 call centers worldwide.
