Dex One Corporation began shutting down business search engine Business.com on November 10.

The company acquired Buisiness.com, which includes a Web directory and pay-per-click advertising network, in 2007. Dex One, previously known as RH Donnelley, emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in February.

Mike Truell, director of external communications at Dex One, said shuttering Business.com was a strategic decision.

“The stand-alone b-to-b business was not part of the long-term strategy for Dex One,” he said.

Truell said the company has not yet determined the date it will close the site.

Dex One will lay off employees as a result of the decision, said Truell, who declined to disclose specific numbers.
