American List Counsel, Princeton, NJ, has begun New Business Selector, a database of more than 1.8 million contacts at brand-new businesses.

The file is compiled from state and local sources to provide new-business information before it appears in places such as Yellow Pages or Internet directories.

Selects on the database include gender, title, telephone number, fax number, standard industry code and number of employees. Within the title select, mailers can choose from owner, president, manager, executive director, principal and religious leader.

ALC recommends this file for offers of accounting and payroll services, banking, graphic arts, insurance, equipment, furniture, supplies, cleaning services, computers, commercial real estate, telecommunications and beverage or coffee services.

The base price is $150 per thousand.
