Aerospace, Defense Firms Will Launch Online Marketplace

Four leading aerospace and weapons firms confirmed yesterday they would form a business-to-business e-commerce marketplace. The companies -- Boeing, Lockheed Martin, BAE Systems and Raytheon -- will open an aerospace and defense exchange, based on the Commerce One MarketSite Portal Solution. The exchange, which was rumored to be in the works last week, will help streamline the buying and fulfillment process in the $400 billion industry.


The marketplace is expected to comprise more than 37,000 suppliers, hundreds of airlines and national governments.
