Mardev Launches DM Resource Site

Mardev, the international list management and brokerage division of business-to-business publisher Reed-Elsevier, London, has launched a Web site which it hopes will serve as a resource for international BTB mailers and U.S. mailers targeting international markets.

The site, www.mardevlists.com, came online last month and differs from other list firm sites because of its breadth of offerings. In addition to list search capabilities and online data card viewing, the site provides information on direct marketing essentials, data protection and international privacy developments, as well as articles on current issues and trends and links to other direct marketing Web sites.

"A lot of the other Web sites are one-dimensional in that they only offer information on what lists are available,'' said Karie Burt, director of Mardev's New York office. "We wanted to deliver a more rounded view of what's available and what's important. We hope people will bookmark it."

Mailers can search from an international list portfolio of more than 300 files containing 30 million names by industry and international region. Orders can't be placed online but the site does contain Mardev sales contact information and an order template that can be faxed or e-mailed via a special link for U.S. clients, sales@mardevlists.com. Orders also can be placed through a mailer's preferred list broker.

Mardev plans to update the site with a section on postal issues and will add fax and e-mail lists to its online portfolio.

"Our preference is to always put a person into the loop," Burt said. "It is not intended as a replacement to brokers."
