Marchex Acquires Some of Aggregator Open List's Assets

Search marketing and online traffic provider Marchex, Seattle, acquired certain assets of Open List Inc., an online content aggregator.

Marchex paid $13 million in cash and common stock to obtain Open List's search technology, content aggregation and user-generated content platform.

Marchex also recently acquired some assets of AreaConnect LLC, which provides local online traffic to Yellow and White Page Publishers.

By acquiring Open List, Marchex can expand the offerings on its network of vertical and local Web sites, such as www.lasvegasvacations.com and www.newyorkdining.com. Marchex plans to integrate Open List's aggregation of vertical and local content, including ratings, reviews, articles, maps and product information.
