Macy's.com to Sell Exclusive Makeovers

Macy's.com, the online retailer, last week agreed to exclusively sell fashion makeover software from developer Broderbund, Novato, CA.

Called Cosmopolitan Fashion Makeover, the software -- intended for women --allows buyers to create a three-dimensional model of themselves based on their own body measurements and allows the customer to "try on" brand name clothing. It costs $49.95.

Esprit, Liz Claiborne and Jones New York are among the designers using the program, which is available for download from Macy's Web site at www.macys.com.

Broderbund declined to say why the agreement was exclusive to Macy's, but company spokeswoman Andrea Kroger did say, "It may have something to do with joint ventures to come in the future."
