Lyris Releases High-Performance E-Mail Engine

Lyris Inc., a developer of e-mail management software, has released Lyris MailEngine 1.0, a high-performance mailer that the company said can send up to 150,000 messages per hour from a single server.

The Berkeley, CA, company said a single MailEngine server can replace multiple machines running lower-performance software. MailEngine uses a Web interface, which Lyris said lets users handle all administrative tasks through any Web browser.

Lyris said MailEngine uses the same technology that underlies its ListManager software. MailEngine can be downloaded from the Lyris Web site, www.lyris.com, and is available for various platforms including Microsoft Corp.'s Windows, Sun Microsystems' Solaris, Linux and Berkeley Systems' FreeBSD.

Licenses start at $500 and are based on total mailing speed.
