L.L. Bean to Lose Key Executive To Send.com

Thomas Harden, executive vice president of world-wide operations at L.L. Bean Co., Freeport, ME, has made public his intention to leave the company to accept a position as executive vice president and CEO for Internet start-up, Send.com Waltham, MA.


According to published reports, Send.com, a company capitalized at $10 million, will enter the premium retail and merchandising arena by coordinating a network of specialized local area stores for assembly and delivery of higher-priced gift products. The company's founder, Michael G. Lannon, said prices will range from $50 to $150.


Harden, 50, was formerly with The Limited Inc., Columbus, OH and Andersen Consulting, Chicago, before joining L.L. Bean.
