The technology already exists to automate many marketing processes, but some marketers just aren't taking advantage of it. For example, while it's possible to fairly easily send life-stage triggered automated campaigns, recent research from Yesmail found that only 21% of marketers are actually doing it.

Yes Agency Services Managing Director Mike Penney stopped by the Direct Marketing News booth at DMA2013 in Chicago to talk technology and share tips for getting actionable with your data. And to be actionable, silos need to go the way of the dodo.

Says Penney: "There's a long list of things marketers are trying to deal with and they just struggle getting the basics done."
