Listen.com Dials in TuneTo.com

Online music directory Listen.com has acquired TuneTo.com to bolster its ad revenue potential.

Listen.com, San Francisco, plans to use TuneTo's streaming audio technology as it prepares to heighten its commitment to gaining market share in the Internet radio sector. TuneTo, Redwood City, CA, does not deliver songs or ad content from actual broadcast stations but instead programs the content itself. The lure for Listen.com is the chance to sell ads in this sector.

"In the near term, Listen believes that Internet radio will be the dominant platform around which new technology music services and devices will be built," said CEO Rob Reid. "[TuneTo] will greatly enhance the products we have to offer to partners."

Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
