List Veteran Ronald Riffkin, 68, Dies

List industry veteran Ronald Riffkin died Monday. He was 68 and suffered from cancer and heart complications.

Riffkin founded list brokerage and management firm Riffkin Direct Inc., New Hyde Park, NY, in 1988 after spending much of his career as the list manager for Charles Offset Co.

"He represented a portion of the old guard of direct marketers that had highly focused operations and a limited number of accounts," said Leon Henry, chairman/CEO of Leon Henry Inc., Scarsdale, NY. "In a way you could say that his passing represents the passing of that type of list business."

Riffkin closed his business about four months ago when his health began to decline, Henry said.

Henry met Riffkin through the direct marketing industry more than 20 years ago.

"Ron will be missed by all of us who knew him," Henry said.

A service for Riffkin was held Wednesday. Riffkin is survived by his wife, Sharon, and daughter, Debbie.
