List Leader Paradysz Eyes More Accomplishments

Though the Direct Marketing Association's List & Database Council wouldn't let its 2003 List Leader of the Year bring his whole company up to the podium to accept the award, Chris Paradysz, CEO of ParadyszMatera Inc., New York, credited his employees when claiming his prize Monday night.

"I'm just a lucky guy," Paradysz said. "I have the best job in the whole world and 130 of the smartest people in any business working with me."

He ended his comments by saying that he still had a lot more to do in the list industry and wondering whether it was possible to win the List Leader award twice.

Paradysz received the award at an Aug. 11 banquet at The Manhattan Penthouse in New York, preceding yesterday's DMA List Vision 2003 conference at the Marriott Marquis.

Paradysz began his career in the list industry at American List Counsel in 1985, then founded Paradysz in 1989. In 1990, Angelo Matera joined the firm as a partner, prompting the name change. The company specializes in list brokerage as well as research and analysis.

Paradysz also serves as co-chair of the DMA's List Leaders and is a member of several DMA councils.

The award is given to a list professional with at least 10 years in the industry. The recipient must be active in one or more of these list-related areas: ethics, education, list practices and standards, privacy issues, postal reform, communication or environmental concerns.
