List Committee Wants More Members

NEW YORK -- Aiming to encourage membership, the Direct Marketing Association's List & Database Council Operating Committee held an open meeting yesterday here at the DMA's List Vision 2002 conference at the Waldorf Astoria.

"Our job is to represent the list industry to the outside world," committee chairwoman Stefanie Pont said.

The council informed attendees that membership had fallen to 140 people from a high of 260 in 1997 and that it soon would conduct a membership drive via direct mail and e-mail.

Attendees also were encouraged to send the committee ideas about the types of programs they want.

In addition, the council said that its State of the List Industry Report for 2002 would be released next month.
