Lighthouse Holdings Acquires Davidson MarketingLighthouse Holdings Inc., Chicago, making good on its promise to continue building and integrating an international portfolio of diversified marketing services companies, announced the purchase this week of Davidson Marketing, Chicago, a consumer-focused direct marketing services agency.
Founded in 1979, Davidson is known for marketing campaigns aimed at children as well as many broadly targeted programs, including one for Microsoft that introduced Microsoft Golf.
Amy LaBan, vice president of Lighthouse Holdings, said the company has purchased seven other companies since 1998. "In order to do that, we have to be especially interested in management," LaBan said. Management has always stayed with the companies we have acquired, and we want them to stay."
According to Davidson president Jay Farrell, the company was looking for a partner like Lighthouse that would allow it to maintain its independence while providing the environment and resources for growth. "Lighthouse offered us financial and strategic assets, as well as the opportunity to partner with the other Lighthouse companies to offer our clients international support and additional services" said Farrell.
Lighthouse's acquisition of Davidson, along with its purchase of another agency Communicator, London, is part of its overall strategy to become a stronger, more integrated marketing services organization around the globe.
According to Lighthouse Holdings president Martin Beck, "The international network formed by Davidson and Communicator allows Lighthouse to support the marketing communication programs of its portfolio companies' multinational clients more effectively."
He said the company expects to form additional international networks around consulting, marketing research and new media.
