Letter: They Forgot the Search

I was excited to see how Equifax was tying in its movie fame with an online component ("Equifax, Identity Theft Get the Hollywood Treatment," Feb. 6), and then I realized that they had totally left search engine marketing out of the equation!

Sigh.

I'd love it if you started an online column: "They Forgot the Search."

I searched "Firewall movie" and even "firewall," and Equifax wasn't buying any of the terms and didn't have an organic presence, either. Nothing for "Harrison Ford" or "firewall harrison ford." So silly - how do they think people will find them?

WORSE! If you search "Equifax," the link goes to an old version of their home page that has no mention of the movie.

Sad, sad, sad. I would call this an incomplete pass in marketing ;-)
