Legacy.com Launches Obituary Finder

Legacy.com, Chicago, a publisher of online memorials and funeral service information, said Friday it would launch ObitFinder as a free service to visitors of the company's Web site.

ObitFinder is a search engine tailored specifically to finding newspaper obituaries and death notices.

Visitors to ObitFinder can enter a person's name, an organization, a hometown or any combination of key words to search a network of listings from more than 1,200 online editions of newspapers. Search results link users directly to an online obituary or death notice.

The finder was designed to help relatives and friends in geographically dispersed areas locate obituaries.
