Lands' End, Lockheed Martin Partner
Lands' End Inc., Dodgeville, WI, has partnered with Lockheed Martin Systems Integration, which will provide an automated sorting system at the retailer's distribution center.Lockheed Martin, Owego, NY, a systems integrator providing turnkey material handling and automation solutions, is designing, installing and integrating the system at Lands' End's 800,000-square-foot facility. The system will enable it to handle an increasing volume of customer orders requiring additional work, such as monogramming and specific sizing.
The new system will sort customer orders prior to further order distribution. It interfaces with Lands' End's warehouse management system and combines scanning technologies, unit sorters, integrated controllers and a conveyor. The integration of the system is currently under way and should be fully operational next month.
