Web analytics provider WebSideStory said yesterday that Knight Ridder Digital, the online division of the nation's second-largest newspaper chain, chose the company's service, HBX, to measure visitor activity across its Web sites.

Knight Ridder Digital develops and manages the Internet properties of Knight Ridder, which publishes 31 daily newspapers in 28 U.S. markets, including The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Miami Herald, The San Jose Mercury News, The Kansas City Star and The Charlotte Observer.

Knight Ridder Digital will use San Diego-based WebSideStory's analytics to track visitor metrics and analyze online user behavior.
