KB Buys EToys Assets

KB Toys will pay about $3.35 million for the defunct eToys trade name, Web domain name, logos and trademarks.

EToys also has agreed to send e-mails to an undisclosed number of its former customers notifying them that they can shop at www.kbkids.com, KB Toys' online arm.

The deal includes eToys' software, and KB is reportedly looking at two eToys warehouses that are for sale. KB, Pittsfield, MA, runs an online fulfillment center in Danville, KY.

People trying to log on to eToys.com will be immediately sent to the KBkids.com site, which stands to gain from the extensive mass advertising eToys did before closing earlier this year.

KB, which has 1,300 stores, paid $5.4 million last month for eToys' unsold inventory.
