Kana Moves to Acquire Hipbone

CRM applications provider Kana said that it signed an agreement to acquire Hipbone Inc., an online customer interaction solutions provider.

The deal is expected to close in the first quarter.

Hipbone was founded in 1998 and offers a solution that provides live, online assistance at critical times in an effort to bring customer-agent exchange closer to that of an in-store encounter. Hipbone's customers include leading financial services companies such as Wells Fargo Bank and Diversified Investment Advisors as well as leading hi-tech manufacturers including Veritas and NCR Corp.

Kana, Menlo Park, CA, will continue to offer Hipbone as a standalone product and also will integrate the solution into its Kana iCare suite. Kana will integrate Hipbone products into the company's vertical market product lines.
