E-commerce services firm Junction Solutions acquired e-commerce software firm ThePage.com to add front-end e-commerce software to its service.

With the acquisition, Junction Solutions will gain ThePage.com's front-end e-commerce software enabling the firm to provide retailers with catalog management, pricing, promotions, content management, coupon management, search and shopping cart functionality.

"Although Junction Solutions currently offers Internet retailers programmatic methods for accessing corporate information from the JunctionMCR system for multichannel retailers, it hasn't offered a full e-commerce development and scalable deployment solution," said Brian Carpizo, president/CEO of Junction Solutions, Lincolnshire, IL.

"With this acquisition, Junction Solutions adds a significant component to its integrated Retail Product Suite, which includes JunctionISS for in store point-of-sale solutions, JunctionRBI for retail business intelligence, and JunctionMCR, a multichannel retail solution built on the Microsoft Dynamics AX platform," he said.

The acquired application will be known as JunctionEOD, and will compete with NetSuite, CoreSense, as well as offerings from Ecometry/BlueMartini/Acquity Group, ATG, Fry, Venda and DemandCommerce.

Mr. Carpizo cited a recent AMR Research/NRF survey which claimed that 42 percent of retailers are planning to deploy an outsourced e-commerce solution versus 53 percent of respondents using a traditional licensed application model.

"The market for e-commerce IT solutions is exploding, paralleling the mainstream acceptance of the Internet as a retail channel," Mr. Carpizo said.
