Japs-Olson Co., a commercial printer and direct mail producer, has received the Forest Stewardship Council chain-of-custody certification.

Valid for five years, the FSC certification signifies the support of Japs-Olson and its clients for sound environmental practices and proper forest management.

"With the increasing emphasis on the concept of green business, we feel it's important to do our part to help ensure that forestry practices are environmentally responsible, socially beneficial and economically viable," Mike Beddor, CEO of Japs-Olson, said in a statement.

A century old, Japs-Olson is one of the 10 leading commercial printers nationwide. The Minneapolis company has more than 750 employees and an on-site post office.

To use the FSC logo as an environmental claim, the product should flow through the organization's chain of custody from the FSC-certified forest to a paper manufacturer or merchant and then to a printer with the same certification.
