Japanese Internet Firm Buys MailCreations

MailCreations.com, a permission-based direct marketing solutions provider, said yesterday that it has been acquired by Livedoor Co. Ltd., a Japanese Internet service provider.

Details of the transaction were not released.

MailCreations' E-Mail Marketing Network database contains 100 million opt-in e-mail addresses. The company also provides e-mail appending services and purchased search engine marketing firm seekOver.com in March. CEO Jose Vargas will stay on to run the company for Livedoor.

Livedoor said the acquisition is part of its strategy to expand its reach internationally. Aside from Japan, it has operations in China, Germany, Spain and Thailand. MailCreations is based in Miami.
