J. Crew Q4 Direct Sales Rise 47%

J. Crew Group Inc. reported yesterday that consolidated revenue for the fourth quarter ended Jan. 29 totaled $264 million, a 26 percent gain over the same period last year. Retail sales in the period totaled $183 million compared with $154 million last year while same-store sales rose 17 percent.


The New York-based multichannel marketer of women's and men's apparel also said that revenue for its direct business, including Internet and catalog sales, climbed 47 percent to $72 million in the fourth quarter.


J. Crew released results for fiscal year 2004, which ended Jan. 29. The company generated consolidated revenue of $804 million, up 17 percent over the prior year. Retail sales totaled $580 million compared with $487 million a year ago while same-store sales increased 16 percent. Direct sales rose 14 percent to $198 million.
