ISS Introduces POS System

Integrated Software Solutions Inc. has introduced a browser-based point-of-sale system that makes transaction data available to retailers in real time.

The system can be used to build touch-tone kiosks and other digitally enhanced store stations.

ISS, Raleigh, NC, teams with its clients to customize software for the in-store needs of each retailer. The company works with firms to incorporate the look and feel of their stores and Web sites into the building of the kiosks or other devices, said Ken Jenkins, president/CEO of ISS.

Target Corp. is the first retail firm to use ISS' system. Food Avenue, Target's chainwide restaurants, will use the system to offer customers touch-tone ordering abilities. Additionally, the stores will receive daily menu changes digitally from corporate headquarters.

The program will eventually nationalize Food Avenue's offering, provide inventory management and subsequently show which foods are selling better than others nationwide.

Target, Minneapolis, said the POS system has enhanced its speed of service and simplified training for employees at stores already using the application. The retail firm intends to implement the system in 350 stores before year-end and plans on putting the application in its remaining stores before April 2001.
