International Heritage Scuttles DM Plans

Network marketing company International Heritage Inc., Raleigh, NC, has canceled its plans for a transition into a direct marketing company and instead filed for bankruptcy.

IHI announced in October its intention to eliminate a sales force of 175,000 representatives and sell its consumer, sports and telecommunications products via the Internet, direct mail and media advertising.

Insufficient cash flow stemming from a significant revenue drop in its auto-ship program and an inability to raise capital because the negative publicity from regulatory investigations have forced IHI to close all offices and release all remaining employees.
