InfoUSA to Expand Acquired Polk Databases

InfoUSA said yesterday that it plans to expand the Polk City Directories, which it acquired from Equifax on Monday for $6 million.

The Polk City Directories are databases of consumers and small businesses in more than 1,000 U.S. markets. While the directories already contain lifestyle and demographic data, infoUSA will add standard industry codes and credit data. It also will create corresponding CD-ROM directories.

Omaha-based InfoUSA maintains several other directory databases, including business-to-business sales and marketing directories and directories of professionals such as doctors, dentists, entrepreneurs and executives.

With the acquisition of the Polk files, infoUSA also took on 250 people from the Polk sales force. These salespeople will now sell the Polk files as well as other infoUSA products, the company said.
