InfoUSA to break first Super Bowl spot for Salesgenie.com

Database services firm infoUSA Inc. for the first time will run a commercial for its Salesgenie.com product during Super Bowl XLI, one of the nation's most watched television events.

The Omaha, NE, company will break a 30-second spot during the first half of the game, airing Feb. 4 on CBS. It is also a presenting sponsor of the 5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. pre-game broadcast with the line, "The Super Bowl Today Presented by Salesgenie.com."

"Salesgenie appeals to about 13 million people - sales people, entrepreneurs, small business owners - and we believe that most of them watch the Super Bowl," said Vin Gupta, chairman/CEO of infoUSA. "And Salesgenie has been one of the hottest selling tools and we believe this is a premier event to advertise this service."

Salesgenie.com is a subscription service for salespeople and small business owners, offering access to sales leads, mailing lists and business credit reports. Users can search from infoUSA's 12 databases to build targeted prospecting lists, preview the names, download, get driving directions and maps, and develop direct mail campaigns.

InfoUSA said the ad will expose Salesgenie.com to more than 140 million viewers - many of them sales people and small business owners - who are expected to watch the football game.

The decision to advertise during the Super Bowl broadcast will cost infoUSA millions of dollars. The spot was conceived and produced in-house. It can be seen at www.salesgenie.com/tv.

Visitors to Salesgenie.com/tv are being offered trial offers and discounted pricing for the Salesgenie.com service. They can also submit ideas for the next Salesgenie.com Super Bowl commercial, infoUSA said. The winning idea will get a prize not disclosed at this time.

Meanwhile, Publishers Clearing House will be an official sponsor of AOL's Super Sunday Ad Poll.

The poll lets Internet users view and vote on each commercial. AOL will feature the commercials as they air on CBS by the quarter to help consumers find them.

PCH's Feb. 4-11 sponsorship lets AOL.com visitors register for a chance to win $5,000. The entrants will automatically be entered to win the larger PCH sweepstakes. The winner will be announced Feb. 28 on the NBC Nightly News program.

Cable network HBO's "The Sopranos" sponsored last year's Super Sunday Ad Poll. It generated almost 42 million streams of the commercials the week prior to the game.
