InfoUSA Acquires Edith Roman

InfoUSA, Omaha, NE, announced today that it purchased Edith Roman Associates Inc. The acquisition combines two companies named for their respective founders, Edith Roman, who founded her firm in 1956, and infoUSA subsidiary Walter Karl, founded by Karl in 1957.

Details of the transaction were not released.

The acquisition adds the Edith Roman list brokerage and management business, ePostDirect e-mail marketing services business and Database Direct data processing division to Walter Karl's existing list business and interactive division.

Walter Karl president Ed Mallin said the companies will keep their separate identities but will focus on cross-selling and other synergies. Mallin will head Walter Karl and Edith Roman. Mallin said Stevan and Wayne Roberts, co-owners of Edith Roman, will stay on. He said Edith Roman is strong in the business-to-business publishing arena but that Walter Karl has several clients in BTB catalog.

Both companies operate from the same office building in Pearl River, NY.
