infoUSA Acquires American Church Lists to Build Vertical Markets

Database and marketing services firm infoUSA, Omaha, NE, announced Tuesday the acquisition of American Church Lists Inc., a national proprietary database of religious institutions, organizations and affiliations.

American Church Lists, Arlington, TX, will become part of infoUSA's vertical markets group, which includes its medical, library and government divisions.

"This acquisition is keeping with our philosophy to buy companies that have either general databases or vertical databases. It fits right in, just like when we acquired American Medical Information. Now, with American Church Lists, it gives us a vertical database," said Vinod Gupta, chairman/CEO of infoUSA.

The database provider said it plans to use the information in its vertical markets group for its Internet initiative, following suit with the launch of its other vertical markets sites, such as ListBazaar.com which launched last year.

Sara Lee, current president of American Church Lists, will work on a consulting basis at infoUSA.
