Banner-ad service bureau Impulse! Buy Network Inc., Burlingame, CA, and affiliate-program broker LinkShare Corp., New York, announced this week that they have teamed up to offer advertisers the ability to create their own commission-based impulse-purchase banner campaigns. The Impulse! Buy Network allows merchants to create their own online promotions on the fly through the use of customizable banner-ad formats that are served by Impulse! from a central point. For a commission, LinkShare will track sales through any type of link, including those imbedded in banners, e-mail and text. Both companies' services will be available at www.linkshare.com. Online merchants use Impulse! technology to provide online consumers with time-sensitive, limited quantity offers on name-brand products. Content sites post racks of merchandise on sale, and Impulse! responds to consumer feedback by reducing prices.
