Hyundai turns to Shannon to steer US marketing

Hyundai Motor America appointed Steve Shannon VP of marketing, effective April 18. He will be responsible for all marketing activities in the US and report to John Krafcik, president and CEO.

Shannon will be Hyundai's third marketing chief in the past 13 months. Chris Perry left the position in August to become Chevrolet's lead marketer. Perry replaced Joel Ewanick, who left Hyundai last March for Nissan. Ewanick then moved from Nissan to GM, where he was promoted to CMO.

Prior to joining Hyundai, Shannon was executive director of marketing at Cadillac. He's also held marketing leadership roles at Saturn, Oldsmobile, Buick, Saab and Hummer.

“We're delighted to have Steve Shannon on-board as our VP of marketing,” said Krafcik, in a statement. “Steve has delivered great marketing results throughout his career…He's a marketing innovator with strong convictions about serving the customer.”
